Heather Tom is set to make The Bold and the Beautiful history as she takes on a rare triple role—writing, directing, and starring in a special all-female episode of the long-running CBS soap. This milestone comes as the six-time Daytime Emmy winner celebrates 35 years with the show, where she plays Katie Logan Spencer.

Set to air on March 27, the episode will honor Women’s History Month and highlight the show’s powerhouse female characters, including Rebecca Budig (Taylor), Annika Noelle (Hope), Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke), Jennifer Gareis (Donna), and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy).

Tom revealed to Deadline that the idea for this unique episode came from daytime TV legend Brad Bell, who approached her with the opportunity. “I was like, ‘Oh, that’ll be interesting!’” she recalled, emphasizing how rare it is to see an all-female episode in soap operas.

Beyond the cast, the theme extends behind the scenes, with a female stage manager, assistant director, and editors overseeing production. The 18-minute episode will delve into mother-daughter relationships, a theme that Tom finds deeply personal, especially after the passing of her own mother last year.

While The Bold and the Beautiful is making history with this episode, it isn’t the first daytime drama to do so—General Hospital aired a similar suffrage-themed episode in 2020.

With Tom at the helm, this special episode promises to be both emotional and groundbreaking—a true celebration of the women who have shaped The Bold and the Beautiful.
