HBO has officially cast most of the Weasley family for its new Harry Potter series. Tristan Harland will play Fred, Gabriel Harland is taking on George, Ruari Spooner has been chosen as Percy, and Gracie Cochrane will play Ginny. They will join Alastair Stout, who was already confirmed as Ron.

The main trio is also shaping up. Dominic McLaughlin has been revealed as the new Harry Potter, while Arabella Stanton is stepping into the role of Hermione Granger. Katherine Parkinson will take on the role of Molly Weasley, though Arthur and Charlie are still waiting to be cast.

Beyond the Burrow, HBO has stacked the series with some big names. Paapa Essiedu is set to play Severus Snape, John Lithgow will be the new Dumbledore, Janet McTeer has been cast as Professor McGonagall, and Nick Frost will bring his own style to Hagrid. With a cast like this, fans are already expecting something huge.

Behind the camera, Francesca Gardiner is writing the series and serving as executive producer. Mark Mylod, best known for his work on Succession, will direct several episodes and also act as executive producer. The show is a partnership between HBO, Brontë Film and TV, and Warner Bros. Television. J.K. Rowling is involved as an executive producer alongside Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman, who also produced the original films.

The plan is simple but ambitious. Each season will adapt one of the seven books. The release is currently set for 2027, giving HBO time to bring the wizarding world back to life on a much bigger scale. With the Weasley family almost complete and such a strong lineup in place, HBO’s boldest project in years is finally taking shape.
