Kanye West is back at it again, keeping us all on our toes like it’s a full-time job. Just when we think we’ve wrapped our heads around one of his moves, he throws in another twist, and this one feels less like a curveball and more like a boomerang that’s swinging right back at us.
Remember when he dropped the “Kanye” and started calling himself just “Ye” back in 2018? Well, buckle up, because according to a fresh scoop from Page Six, he’s now going by Ye Ye. Yep, double the Ye. And honestly, we’re not sure whether to laugh, blink twice, or start preparing ourselves for a possible Ye Ye Ye in 2033. Maybe this is his version of the “seven-year itch.”
But this isn’t just some casual nickname he’s playing around with. Based on new business filings made in California, and officially submitted by none other than his chief financial guy, Hussain Lalani — it looks like Kanye, sorry, Ye Ye, is dead serious about this name switch. He’s already slapped “Ye Ye” onto big-time projects like his Yeezy fashion line, his music label (Yeezy Record Label, LLC), and another company of his called “Getting Out Our Dreams Inc.” So yeah, this isn’t a drill.
Previously, Kanye West changed his name to Ye in 2018
Let’s rewind a bit for context. Back in 2018, Kanye tweeted something like “the being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE,” around the time he dropped his album Ye. Then in 2021, he made it official by legally changing his name to Ye, no middle or last name, just Ye. Fast forward to June 1 this year, and he posted on X (formerly Twitter) saying he’s ditching the platform because his handle was based on his “slave name,” and hinted at starting fresh under the Ye identity. Now, it looks like he’s taken that a step further and legally wants to be known as Ye Ye. As in, twice the Ye, twice the drama.
And of course, all this is unfolding during a pretty chaotic chapter in his life. From courtroom drama with his ex, Kim Kardashian, to the rollercoaster relationship he’s got going on with Bianca Censori, Kanye’s world is anything but calm right now. Between legal battles, emotional breakdowns, and headline-worthy moments, this name change feels like just another layer in the whirlwind that is Kanye’s ongoing personal saga.
So, is Ye Ye here to stay? With Kanye West, you honestly never know. But one thing’s for sure, he’s going to keep us guessing.
