Dexter: Original Sin has been canceled, just months after Paramount renewed it for a second season. Sources cited by Variety revealed that the show never progressed toward production—the writers’ room did not develop scripts, and filming never began—leading the studio to ultimately halt plans for season 2.

About Season 1

The first season, which premiered in July 2024 and concluded in September, served as a prequel to the Dexter universe, following a young Dexter Morgan as he transitions from a student into a budding serial killer under the guidance of his father, Harry Morgan. Season 1 was well-received, achieving a 97% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes and strong viewership numbers.
