Dearest reader, it appears the wait for Bridgerton Season 4 may finally be nearing its end—at least on the production front.
According to fresh clues uncovered by Just Jared, filming for the beloved Netflix period drama seems to have quietly wrapped up. Actress Nicola Coughlan, who plays the fan-favorite Penelope Featherington, subtly hinted at this in a recent interview with Allociné, a French magazine. Speaking about the upcoming season, she said, “nous touchons à la fin”—which translates to, “we are coming to the end.”
That’s not all. Hannah Dodd, who made her debut as Francesca Bridgerton in Season 3, recently took on a major stage role in London’s West End. She stars as Sally Bowles in Cabaret, which began performances on May 29, 2025. Considering the prep and rehearsal time required for such a role, it’s safe to infer that she had already finished filming her Bridgerton scenes before stepping onto the stage.
Still, fans shouldn’t get too excited just yet—Bridgerton seasons are known for their long post-production periods. While filming might be done, a release date is likely still several months away, possibly stretching into 2026.
Season 4 is expected to spotlight Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson) and his romantic arc with Sophie Baek, portrayed by Yerin Ha. Fans of the book series will recognize this as a reimagining of Julia Quinn’s third novel, An Offer from a Gentleman. Interestingly, Sophie’s surname was changed from Beckett to Baek to reflect Ha’s Korean heritage—an intentional and inclusive move by the showrunners.
Ha described Sophie as “a captivating and resourceful woman,” someone who faces adversity from the very beginning. Speaking to Tudum, she teased that Sophie’s struggles revolve around social status and her attempts to suppress her feelings for Benedict—a setup that promises all the yearning, scandal, and slow-burn romance Bridgerton fans live for.
