Harry Kane is determined to mirror Cristiano Ronaldo’s longevity and success as he gears up for England’s Nations League match against Ireland. After a tough Euro 2024, Kane is now focused on extending his career and maintaining peak performance, much like Ronaldo has done well into his late thirties.
Currently playing for Bayern Munich after his long stint with Tottenham, Kane has started the Bundesliga season strong, scoring a goal against Freiburg. His main source of inspiration, however, is Ronaldo, who recently achieved his 900th career goal at age 39. Kane aspires to emulate the longevity and success of the Portuguese star.
Kane’s Inspiration from Ronaldo
Kane, who will turn 31 this year, openly admires Ronaldo for his ability to remain at the top of his game for so many years. Kane has expressed that Ronaldo represents the ultimate standard for a footballer’s career longevity.
“Cristiano is the benchmark, not just for being one of the greatest footballers ever, but also for showing how long you can keep playing at a high level,” Kane said. He added, “Players like Ronaldo, Messi, Benzema, and Lewandowski have elevated their games as they’ve gotten older. Cristiano demonstrates that week in and week out, so that’s what I’m aiming for.”
As Kane approaches his 100th cap for England, he hopes to lead his team to a strong performance against Ireland. After the international break, he will shift his focus back to Bayern Munich, aiming to help them reclaim the Bundesliga title and add more goals to his impressive career tally.
