Halle Berry has fired back at her ex-husband, David Justice, after his recent comments about wanting a traditional wife. The actress took to Instagram to share a series of photos where she appeared relaxed and happy, enjoying time with loved ones. In the caption, she wrote, “Phew…! cooking, cleaning, and mothering,” a clear clapback at Justice’s remarks.
Justice, who appeared on the All the Smoke podcast, spoke about his past views on relationships. He admitted that, as a young man from the Midwest, he expected his wife to cook, clean, and embody traditional roles. He went on to say that during his marriage to Berry, he began questioning whether she was the woman he wanted to raise children with, claiming she did not seem “motherly” and pointing to issues that arose between them.
Berry and Justice first got engaged in 1993 after a short courtship and tied the knot the same year. Their marriage was troubled, and the couple eventually separated in 1996, finalizing their divorce a year later. While Berry never publicly revealed the full reasons for their split, Justice suggested their differing expectations played a role.
The actress has also previously shared that she was physically harmed by a former partner, which left her with a ruptured eardrum, though she never disclosed who was responsible.
Today, Berry seems content in her personal life. She has been in a happy relationship with musician Van Hunt since 2020, and the pair often share glimpses of their bond on social media.
