Hollywood star Halle Berry recently opened up about her past, calling out her ex-husband Eric Benet’s claims of being a sex addict. During an appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast hosted by Dax Shepard, Berry candidly stated, “I had one husband who said he was a sex addict… But I don’t f-king believe that s-t,” seemingly dismissing Benet’s long-standing narrative from their marriage.
Denial of addiction
Although Eric Benet sought treatment for alleged sex addiction in 2002, he later denied the label. In a 2004 interview with ABC News, Benet stated, “I am not a sex addict… I made some really stupid, painful mistakes.” His remarks fueled debates about the real cause of his infidelity and their eventual divorce.
Berry and Benet’s short-lived marriage
Berry and Benet, both renowned in their respective fields, tied the knot in 2001 after two years of dating. However, their marriage quickly fell apart, with rumors of infidelity on Benet’s part dominating headlines. The couple separated in 2003, and it was widely believed that Benet’s alleged sex addiction played a role in their split. Despite the public speculation, Berry now appears to have set the record straight, openly dismissing those claims.
Following their split, both moved on. Berry dated model Gabriel Aubry, with whom she shares a daughter, and later married Olivier Martinez, with whom she has a son. Eric Benet remarried Manuela Testolini, and they have two daughters together.
