Gwyneth Paltrow is making a notable comeback to the big screen with the romantic drama Marty Supreme, starring alongside Timothée Chalamet. But despite the onscreen heat, Paltrow recently opened up about how filming those intimate scenes is far from romantic. On The Drew Barrymore Show, she described the kiss scenes with Chalamet as “very mechanical” and “like choreography but involving tongues.”

At 52, Paltrow plays Chalamet’s love interest in a film she previously said would have “a lot of sex.” She admitted that the process of filming steamy scenes can feel “weird” and lacks genuine passion, explaining, “You’re making out with someone you’re not in a relationship with. There’s no romance. It’s very mechanical.” Drew Barrymore pointed out that it’s often like being intimate with a colleague, and Paltrow agreed, emphasizing the choreographed nature of it all.

Despite this clinical approach, Paltrow had nothing but praise for Chalamet. She called him “such a wonderful young man,” highlighting his politeness, great talent, and the enjoyable experience of working with him on set.

Marty Supreme is Paltrow’s first major role since Avengers: Endgame in 2019. She acknowledged feeling nervous about returning to acting after years devoted to family life. With her son and stepson now in college and her daughters having left home, she feels a deep personal shift as she embraces this new creative chapter.

Scheduled to premiere on December 25, 2025, Marty Supreme promises a captivating story—and while the magic of romance might fade behind the scenes, Paltrow’s renewed artistic energy and strong rapport with Chalamet are set to deliver a compelling onscreen performance.
