Season 21 of Grey’s Anatomy is making a comeback, bringing fresh drama and new patients to the medical drama series. ABC Network dropped a trailer on Thursday, September 19, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come when the new episodes premiere later this month.

The new season is set to pick up right where the last one ended, with Meredith Grey clashing with Catherine Fox over Meredith’s research on Alzheimer’s disease. Their battle continues, and as they seek legal resolutions, other characters will be dealing with their own personal struggles. The trailer also gives a peek into Jo’s storyline, revealing that she’s navigating her pregnancy on her own, as she hasn’t told Link about it yet. Although Levi Schmitt, a colleague of Jo’s, discovers the news.

The trailer hints at a budding romance between two interns, Jules and Mika, played by Adalaide Kane and Midori Francis. There’s also a subplot involving Meredith pressuring the hospital’s owner to let senior doctors continue their work on the Alzheimer’s study.

Fans will not only get more of Ellen Pompeo but will also see the return of Kali Rocha as Dr. Sydney Heron. Dr. Heron, who previously filled in for Dr. Miranda Bailey and had a romantic storyline with Derek Shepherd, is back to stir up more drama. Showrunner Meg Merinis teased that viewers can expect some humorous interactions between Sydney and new characters, highlighting her unique “healing with love” philosophy and quirky nature.

The new season of Grey’s Anatomy will kick off on September 26, and you can catch it streaming on Hulu.
