Google has released a new version of its AI model called Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite. This updated version is now stable and ready for everyone to use. It is designed to work fast and cost less, while still giving good quality results. It’s especially useful for tasks where speed really matters, like translating languages or sorting information quickly.
Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite works faster than the older models and is also better at things like solving math problems, writing code, and understanding images and videos. Even though it’s cheaper, it still performs better than the previous Flash-Lite version. It also lets users work with a lot more data at once, thanks to its large context window.
The price of using this AI is very low. It costs only $0.10 for every million words or characters you give it and $0.40 for every million it gives back. Google has also made it cheaper to use audio with this model.
Some companies are already using Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite. A space tech company named Satlyt said it made its systems run faster and use less power. A video platform called HeyGen uses it to plan videos and translate them into over 180 languages. Another company, DocsHound, uses it to pull screenshots from long videos very quickly. Evertune uses it to check how brands show up in different AI systems.
If you’re a developer or someone who builds software, you can start using this model now by typing “gemini-2.5-flash-lite” into your code. It’s available in Google’s tools like AI Studio and Vertex AI. Google says it will fully remove the preview label by August 25, 2025.
