Google is reportedly updating its Gemini app to make it easier for users to find and manage long-form content. According to 9To5Google, the update introduces a new “Documents” section that brings together Deep Research reports and Canvas creations in one place. This change is aimed at helping users quickly return to past work without scrolling through mixed content.

What’s new in Gemini’s documents section

The update builds on last month’s web redesign, which introduced a “My Stuff” folder. Previously, this folder displayed all Gemini-generated content in a grid of rounded tiles. While this layout worked for images and short outputs, it made long document titles harder to read.

Now, when users click “My Stuff” on the web, the content is reorganized into clearer sections. The existing “Media” section still shows generated images and videos, but a new “Documents” section has been added specifically for text-heavy outputs.

The Documents list includes both Deep Research reports and Canvas creations, covering text files and code-based projects. The most recent two documents appear at the top, and users can tap to view the full list. Each document type also has a small icon on the left, making it easy to distinguish between research reports, text files, and coding work. This new layout makes browsing long titles and ongoing projects far more efficient.

Gemini mobile app updates

Currently, the Documents view is only available on the web version of Gemini and not on Android or iOS. However, the mobile apps are adding a shortcut to NotebookLM in the account menu. This shortcut opens the full NotebookLM website in a browser, even if the app is installed on the device.

Overall, the Gemini update aims to streamline content management, giving users a dedicated space to access long-form documents while keeping media separate. It simplifies organization and helps creators pick up where they left off quickly.
