Italian fashion legend Giorgio Armani has passed away at the age of 91. The Armani Group confirmed the news, leaving the fashion world in mourning. While Armani was famous for his timeless Italian style and dressing Hollywood stars, he kept his personal life largely private. There was always speculation about his relationships, but he only spoke openly about them later in life. He shared that he had been attracted to both men and women throughout his life. Reflecting on his early memories, he recalled feeling drawn to a young supervisor at a beach colony during his childhood.

One of the most important relationships in Armani’s life was with architect Sergio Galeotti. They met in the 1960s and shared both a personal and professional bond. Sergio encouraged Giorgio to pursue fashion seriously, and together they built the foundation of the Armani brand. Their relationship lasted more than a decade, but it ended tragically when Sergio died in the 1980s from AIDS-related complications. Armani later described the loss as shattering, saying that a part of him died with Sergio and that he spent a year by his partner’s hospital bed while their careers were taking off.

In later years, Armani found companionship with Leo Dell’Orco, the brand’s chief of men’s style. Although Giorgio never called their relationship love, he described it as a deep affection and valued the life they built together. He even wore a diamond ring but avoided defining their bond with titles like marriage.

Giorgio Armani left behind a massive empire valued at 12.1 billion dollars. He passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was one of the last great independent designers and inspired a generation of creators around the world. Since he never married and had no direct heirs, there is still uncertainty about who will inherit his fortune.
