New York Giants linebacker Abdul Carter was missing from the field for most of the first quarter in the game against the New England Patriots on Monday night. Fans quickly noticed that he was on the bench and not part of the opening drive.
Giants linebacker Abdul Carter, rumor explored
A rumour started online saying Carter was suspended because he was caught watching porn during a team meeting. This claim came from Wesley Steinberg, who is known for posting bold insider stories. But the Giants have not confirmed anything like this. The team only said that his absence was a coaching decision and made it clear that he was not injured.
“DE Abdul Carter will miss the first drive tonight for disciplinary reasons after getting caught watching porn in a team meeting when his headphones disconnected,” Steinberg wrote.
Some other reports suggested that Carter might have been late to a team meeting. Earlier this season he was also benched once for missing a walkthrough. So people started guessing that it could be another discipline issue. No one from the team has truly explained what happened. Carter was at the stadium and sitting on the bench for most of the first quarter. Coach Mike Kafka did not look in a hurry to send him in.
How many games has Giants linebacker Abdul Carter played?
Carter has played in 12 games this season. He has made 27 tackles and 15 of those were solo. He has also been averaging half a sack per game.
When the Giants defense started to struggle against the Patriots, Carter finally got into the game late in the first quarter. He made an impact right away. He recorded the first full sack of his rookie career and it was a big moment for him.
Carter is a Penn State graduate and was the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
