Typeface, the generative AI startup known for its focus on enterprise applications, has recently announced the acquisition of two companies, Treat and Narrato. This move comes just over a year after Typeface secured $100 million in funding, valuing the company at $1 billion. The acquisitions are expected to significantly bolster Typeface’s capabilities and support its vision for transforming the content lifecycle.

Treat, a company specializing in AI-driven personalized photo products, and Narrato, a platform for AI-powered content creation and management, are the latest additions to Typeface’s growing portfolio. Typeface believes that these acquisitions will enhance its multimodal capabilities and further its mission of revolutionizing end-to-end content management.

In a press release, Typeface highlighted that the integration of Treat and Narrato will enrich its existing visual and textual AI capabilities. By incorporating Treat’s expertise in generating tailored product images and Narrato’s AI content assistant, Typeface aims to provide a more comprehensive suite of tools for its enterprise clients.

Treat, founded by Matt Osman and former Drizly CTO Hugh Hunter, uses data to create targeted product images, catering to specific demographics. For example, if data indicates that younger men respond better to images of people engaging with food products, Treat’s AI will generate such images for marketing purposes.

On the other hand, Narrato, which launched in Australia in 2022, offers an AI content assistant that aids organizations in content creation and planning. It provides tools for generating various types of content, including articles, video scripts, and social media posts, along with collaboration and workflow management features.

Before the acquisition, Treat had raised approximately $8.5 million from investors like Greylock, while Narrato secured over $1 million from AirTree Ventures, OfBusiness, and serial entrepreneur Shreesha Ramdas. Typeface has not disclosed the financial terms of the acquisitions.

These moves are part of Typeface’s broader strategy to expand its capabilities and integrate advanced AI technologies into its offerings. The company’s previous acquisitions include the AI photo and video editing suite TensorTour and the chatbot app Cypher. The impact of these deals on Typeface’s $165 million war chest remains unclear, but they underscore the company’s aggressive expansion strategy in the competitive AI landscape.
