Since The Boys first came out, it’s become one of Prime Video’s biggest shows. Its dark humor, wild action, and fearless storytelling made it a fan favorite. Now, that same world has expanded with Gen V, a spin-off that proved there’s much more to explore inside Vought International’s twisted universe. Unlike many spin-offs that struggle to stand on their own, Gen V managed to win viewers over just as strongly as The Boys did.
So how do the two shows connect? The timeline helps explain it clearly. Gen V season 1 takes place right after The Boys season 3 and before season 4. The upcoming Gen V season 2 fits between The Boys seasons 4 and 5. The show follows Marie Moreau and other young superheroes training at Godolkin University, a school that seems to be shaping the next generation of The Seven. But things aren’t as innocent as they look. Scientists at the university are secretly working on a virus that can kill supes.
The connection between the two shows gets even stronger through major story events and character crossovers. In the Gen V season 1 finale, Homelander shows up and attacks Marie and her friends. They end up locked in a mysterious facility. Meanwhile, The Boys season 4 picks up that same storyline, with Butcher finding out about the supe-killing virus. By the end of that season, he kills Victoria Neuman and takes the last remaining vial of the virus, a huge moment that ties directly back to Gen V.
There are also smaller but meaningful links. Victoria Neuman’s daughter is sent to the Red River Institute, which is the same place where Marie Moreau grew up. Characters from The Boys like Starlight and The Deep also make appearances in Gen V season 2, making the crossover feel even more real.
Gen V season 2 ended on October 22, 2025, and it clearly sets the stage for The Boys season 5. In the finale, Marie, Jordan, Emma, and Andre team up with Starlight and A-Train, hinting that they’ll play a key role in the next chapter. Eric Kripke, the creator of both shows, confirmed that these younger heroes will be an important part of The Boys’ final season.
Interestingly, Kripke also said that Gen V isn’t ending anytime soon. Even after The Boys wraps up, the story of Godolkin University will continue. He shared that there’s already an exciting idea for Gen V season 3 — something surprising yet deeply emotional. It sounds like the world of The Boys is far from over, even when the main show ends.
