Gemini, Google’s new AI technology, is making its way into a variety of Google apps and devices, and it looks like it might soon be coming to Android Auto as well. Recent updates to the Android Auto app have revealed hidden code mentioning “Gemini” and references like a sparkle icon and “kitt”—which could be a nod to the AI from the 80s TV show *Knight Rider*.

The code also includes phrases like “Start conversation” and “GeminiLiveAssistantAction,” hinting that Gemini could be integrated into Android Auto, allowing drivers to use the new AI directly from their car dashboards.

Google has been gradually rolling out Gemini across its platforms, replacing or complementing Google Assistant. While Google hasn’t officially confirmed the rollout timeline, given the rapid deployment of Gemini in other services, it might not be long before you see it on Android Auto.

When Gemini does become available on Android Auto, it should offer smarter, more personalized responses compared to Google Assistant. However, it’s unclear which features will be exclusive to the Google One AI Premium plan, which costs $20 / £18.99 / AU$32.99 per month and provides access to more advanced Gemini capabilities.
