The new anime Gachiakuta is finally picking up speed and getting really popular this summer. People are loving it, and it’s quickly becoming one of the most talked-about shows of the season.
The story is about a boy named Rudo Surebrec. He lives in the poor part of a floating city, basically the slums. His life turns upside down when he gets wrongly blamed for something horrible: the murder of his father. After that, the people in charge decide to throw him away, quite literally. They toss him into a dark, dangerous place far below the city called “The Pit.” It’s where they dump all the criminals and garbage, anything they see as useless or dirty.
But Rudo isn’t alone for long. In this scary, trash-filled world, he’s rescued by a group called The Cleaners. They’re kind of like heroes who fight against the strange and deadly creatures that live in that toxic land. They clean up the mess—hence the name.
The anime is based on a manga (a Japanese comic) that first came out in 2022, published in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine. As of now, there are about 140 chapters, which means there’s a lot of action, drama, and story already written. So if you enjoy the anime, there’s plenty more waiting in the manga.
Now that the anime is finally here, fans are excited to see how the story unfolds in the first season. Even though Episode 3 got delayed, people are still hooked and waiting eagerly to see what’s next.

Gachiakuta plot details
After being thrown into a dangerous and toxic wasteland beneath the floating city he used to live in, Rudo is found and taken in by a group called The Cleaners.
These Cleaners aren’t just any group. They’re brave people who fight the strange and scary creatures that live down in this nasty place known as The Pit. Each member of the group has their backstory, and most of them ended up in the slums because the rich, powerful people above cast them aside. They were treated like trash, just like Rudo.
Even though Rudo becomes part of this group, he has something personal driving him: he wants revenge. His main goal is to go back up to the floating city and make the people who falsely accused and betrayed him pay for what they did.
A lot is going on in this story, so viewers can expect plenty of unexpected moments, cool character arcs, and exciting plot twists in just the first season alone. Whether you’re new to anime or already a fan of the Gachiakuta manga, there’s something in it for everyone.
