G-Dragon’s highly anticipated Übermensch concert in Bangkok, originally scheduled for August 2, was officially cancelled, as announced by concert organizer AEG Presents Asia on July 10. The announcement came just two days after fans launched protests criticizing how his agency, Galaxy Corporation, has been handling both the artist’s activities and his fan relations.
Fans had speculated that their vocal discontent may have led to the cancellation. In recent weeks, they protested the agency’s alleged mismanagement, including long delays at previous shows, issues with unauthorized ticket sellers, and the CEO’s frequent media appearances. Protest trucks were even sent to Galaxy Corporation to express frustration and demand accountability.
However, a new statement issued on July 11 by Galaxy Corporation clarified that the reason behind the Bangkok show’s cancellation had nothing to do with the protests. According to the agency, the decision was made due to safety concerns related to extreme weather. The Rajamangala National Stadium, the planned concert venue, is outdoors, and the current heatwave has led to numerous cases of heatstroke. The agency stated that protecting fans’ health was their top priority.
They added that an alternative date and venue would be announced later, depending on future weather conditions and safety considerations. Galaxy Corporation also apologized to those affected by the cancellation and emphasized that both the artist and his team are working hard to deliver a memorable performance when the time is right.
Despite growing criticism, the agency chose not to address the mismanagement allegations and focused solely on weather concerns as the reason behind the show’s cancellation.
