Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez are set to tie the knot in what’s shaping up to be an ultra-luxurious, headline-grabbing celebration in Venice, Italy. According to Page Six, the couple’s wedding is scheduled to take place between June 24 and 26 and is estimated to cost around $10 million. The planning has reportedly been entrusted to none other than Lanza & Baucina, the same team behind George and Amal Clooney’s iconic wedding. While there’s been no official confirmation from representatives, the main celebration is said to be happening on the scenic island of San Giorgio Maggiore.
However, not everyone in Venice is thrilled about the glitzy affair. Local activist Ruggero Tallon voiced strong opposition to the ceremony, stating that protests are being organized to coincide with the event. His message was blunt: “This city is not for sale; it is not a playground for the rich.” According to him, the lavish wedding is another symbol of how the city is being exploited for profit, particularly by the ultra-wealthy.
Despite the criticism, the event is expected to draw a dazzling list of celebrity guests. Though exact attendance remains unconfirmed, names like Ivanka Trump, Don Trump Jr., Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, Eva Longoria, and her husband Jose Baston have all been mentioned in connection to the festivities. The guest list is reportedly capped at under 200 people—a small crowd by celebrity standards, but still enough to make waves in a tightly packed city like Venice.
Lauren Sanchez’s wedding dress is said to be designed by someone who shares a long-standing personal and professional connection with her, although the designer’s name has yet to be revealed. The couple is also making an effort to work with local vendors for most elements of the event, reportedly opting not to fly in outside services and instead relying on the region’s resources—including the booking of five entire hotels and reserving the city’s water taxis for guest transport. Some local tourism sources even hinted that there may be private excursions aboard Bezos’ Koru yacht.
Amid criticism, Venice’s mayor Luigi Brugnaro addressed concerns by stating that the event is being planned in a way that respects the city’s delicate infrastructure and environment. He assured residents that there would be no “abnormal disruption” and that the local government is collaborating with organizers to maintain the integrity of the city.
While the world watches the spectacle unfold, for many Venetians, the glamorous wedding is a reminder of ongoing tensions between preserving their city’s heritage and accommodating high-profile events funded by billionaires.
