He was fatally shot by police during a traffic stop in Newport Beach, California, on the night of April 17. The incident has led to an official investigation.
According to reports from TMZ, Geoffrey, 45, was riding his motorcycle along the Pacific Coast Highway when he was pulled over by law enforcement. Sources claim he was uncooperative during the stop, which escalated into a confrontation where at least one officer fired multiple shots. A witness near Hoag Hospital reported hearing six or seven gunshots. Geoffrey was rushed to a hospital but sadly passed away from his injuries. Fortunately, no officers were injured during the encounter.
In response to the heartbreaking loss, Lydia McLaughlin Stirling released a statement expressing her family’s devastation. “My family and I are devastated by the loss of my brother,” she said. “We kindly ask for privacy as we mourn.”
The California Attorney General’s office has confirmed that it is conducting an investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
