Season 2 of Forever is confirmed to be released on Netflix (officially).

An original teen romance created by Mara Brock Akil and inspired by Judy Blume’s novel, Forever first premiered on May 8, 2025, and gained immense popularity (success) in terms of viewers and critical accolades (good reviews) regarding the truthful representation of African America teens falling in love, having an intimate relationship, developing both personally and as a person with family restraints, etc., through the stories of Keisha (Lovie Simone) and Justin (Michael Cooper Jr). On May 14, 2025, just six days following the original debut, Forever was renewed for Season Two by Netflix – demonstrating their belief that they have created a series (show) with long-term potential for viewers.

Currently (early 2026), it has not been confirmed what the premiere date will be for the second season of Forever. According to some production listings, filming will start approximately May 8, 2026, somewhere in either the State of California (Los Angeles) or Martha’s Vineyard. Based on other series produced by Netflix, the time from shooting through the completion of Post-production can take from summer through the time to air the series on Netflix – it is anticipated (most likely) that Season Two of Forever will premiere on Netflix sometime in early/mid-2027.

The adventures of Keisha and Justin will continue unfolding in the next season of the series, which will include their trials and tribulations related to growing up, being apart from one another, and discovering who they really are. Mara Brock Akil has described the second season as a “something special” for all of the viewers, where she will dive more deeply into the characters’ emotional lives, but remain true to their established character arcs.

There have been no announcements yet concerning when we may hear more about the full cast returning for the second season or about the plot of the second season. Until then, season one ended on an emotional cliffhanger to give us much to talk about between now and 2027. The story of Forever has just begun!
