Jennifer Lopez is making a determined return to the music scene following her reported split from actor Ben Affleck, with sources suggesting she is aiming for a major dance hit that will propel her back to the top of the charts. According to an insider quoted by Page Six, Lopez has been actively reaching out to songwriters in search of her next big success, signaling a renewed commitment to her music career after the lukewarm reception of her last album, This Is Me… Now.
Jennifer Lopez to refocus on her music career:
The album, which was released in February and heavily inspired by her relationship with Affleck, failed to meet commercial expectations, debuting at number 38 on the Billboard 200 chart. Critics were largely underwhelmed, with Slate stating that most of the album fell short, and Pitchfork remarking that the personal narrative behind the project overshadowed the music itself. Despite earlier hints that This Is Me… Now could be her final album, Lopez is reportedly not ready to walk away from her music career just yet.
“She wants a big dance hit,” the insider told Page Six, noting that Lopez is aiming for a full album of chart-topping tracks rather than a single standout. As per the insider she is priortizing her music and she will not do it unless it’s big. The source also told that Jennifer is looking to “wash away the stink” of her last album and reclaim her position as a dominant force in the music industry.
Despite branching out into acting and other ventures, music remains at the forefront of Lopez’s career aspirations. The insider noted that she cannot accept This Is Me… Now as her final statement in the music industry. As Lopez reportedly begins work on her new album, fans and critics alike are watching to see whether she can reclaim her hitmaker status.
With her next project likely to be centered around high-energy dance tracks, Lopez’s new direction could mark a return to the sound that made her a household name. If successful, her comeback would solidify her place in the industry and show that even after decades in the spotlight, she still has what it takes to dominate the charts.
