Florida mall shooting kills one man and injures one woman, suspect on the loose

One man is dead and one woman is injured in a shooting inside an Ocala, Florida mall on Saturday afternoon, as per the Ocala Police Chief Mike Balken.

Balken said police has received 911 calls about multiple shots fired inside Paddock Mall. He said that calls came in describing the situation as an “active shooter” scenario, which prompted the cops to respond to the location with heavy police presence.

Balken added that police immediately made their way into the mall, only to learn that it was not an active shooter scene.

The officials have instead characterized the shooting incident as targeted act of violence, said Balken.

The chief confirmed that one man was found dead from a gun shot wound. Another woman had suffered a gun shot injury in her leg, and was taken to a hospital, adding that she is expected to survive.

The cops are still searching for the suspect who has been described as Black male wearing a black hoodie, black pants and a black mask over their face, said Balken.
