The original Spider-Man trilogy, directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire, is returning to U.S. theaters this fall in a limited run organized by Fathom Entertainment in partnership with Sony Pictures. Starting September 26, 2025, fans will be able to relive the superhero saga on the big screen, beginning with the 2002 film Spider-Man. The trilogy continues with Spider-Man 2.1 on September 27—marking the first-ever theatrical release of this extended version—and concludes with Spider-Man 3 on September 28. An encore weekend of screenings is also scheduled for October 3 through 5, offering a second chance to experience the films theatrically. Tickets became available on July 25 through Fathom Events and select theaters.
The centerpiece of this re-release is Spider-Man 2.1, a longer cut of the acclaimed 2004 sequel that includes new and extended scenes never before seen in cinemas. This version has previously been released for home viewing but will now be shown in 4K for the first time in theaters. Fathom CEO Ray Nutt described the event as a tribute to fans of the original trilogy, calling Tobey Maguire’s portrayal of Spider-Man “a true gift for longtime fans and a thrilling discovery for new ones.” Nutt emphasized how Raimi’s 2002 film helped define the modern era of superhero movies.
The trilogy’s return is part of Fathom’s ongoing “Fan Favorites” initiative, which brings classic films back to theaters for limited engagements. Previous entries in the series have included Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Clueless, with upcoming showings of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, The Sound of Music, Rocky IV, and Sunset Boulevard. While Sony has hosted various Spider-Man marathons before—including an April 2024 Cinemark event that featured all three live-action Peter Parkers—this marks the first theatrical debut of the extended Spider-Man 2.1, and the first time the Raimi trilogy is returning to the big screen in its own dedicated spotlight.
