Ryan Reynolds has found himself at the center of a heated controversy after revealing that he personally coached his 7-year-old daughter, Inez, to say an extremely inappropriate line in Deadpool & Wolverine. Many fans were shocked and outraged, calling his actions “disturbing” and “unacceptable.”
The backlash has only intensified, especially since Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, are already caught up in a legal dispute with It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni. This ongoing case involves allegations of sexual harassment and defamation, making Reynolds’ parenting decision even more scrutinized.
In the film, Inez plays a younger version of Deadpool, known as “Kidpool,” a character with a sharp tongue and no filter. One of her most controversial lines in the movie reportedly takes a crude jab at Wolverine. She hesitated to say the line at first, but Reynolds allegedly encouraged her by suggesting she might be replaced if she refused.
While discussing the scene behind the scenes, Reynolds admitted that it took anywhere from 70 to 500 takes to get the final version. Director Shawn Levy, who was part of the conversation, acknowledged the awkwardness of the situation but jokingly said Reynolds deserved a “Best Father of the Year” award for his involvement.
The reaction online was swift and overwhelmingly negative. Many people were appalled that a child was made to say such explicit dialogue in an R-rated film. One critic called it “sickening,” while another questioned, “Whatever happened to protecting young kids?”
