On July 1, BTS delighted fans by coming together for their first full-group live broadcast in about three years. The surprise OT7 appearance on Weverse quickly became a major moment online, with fans all over the world sharing clips and reactions. It felt extra special, as it marked their first group greeting since completing their military duties.
One video from the broadcast especially stood out. It showed Jimin talking openly about his weight gain during his military service. While he spoke about his plans to lose the extra weight and return to his previous shape, SUGA gently stepped in to reassure him. The honest and supportive moment between the two members touched fans deeply.
During the live, Jimin mentioned that he had lost his abs and had gained weight. He even touched his stomach and promised fans he would work on getting back in shape. This wasn’t the first time he had spoken about it. Back on July 11, during a live session with Jungkook, he revealed he had gained around 10 kilograms. He explained that while in the military, being surrounded by well-built men inspired him to bulk up a bit too. However, after leaving service, the weight gain started to bother him.
As Jimin talked about getting back in shape during the group live, SUGA calmly responded by saying, “You don’t have to say. \[We know] you’ll get it done.” His words seemed simple, but they carried a lot of meaning. Fans saw it as a quiet but strong show of support. Many felt that Jimin didn’t need to stress so much over something so small, and SUGA’s response made them feel he wasn’t alone.
ARMY was especially moved by SUGA’s caring attitude. They praised him for being thoughtful and understanding, noting that he was acting like a true older brother to Jimin. Many fans also said that Jimin looked great just the way he was and hoped he wouldn’t be too hard on himself. Some shared concerns about how strict beauty standards in the K-pop industry could affect idols like him. But overall, they were relieved and happy to see that Jimin had people around him who truly cared for his well-being.
