Another Simple Favor—the much-awaited sequel to the hit thriller-comedy A Simple Favor—brought back the dark humor fans loved. With Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick leading the cast again, many were excited to dive back into this chaotic, stylish, and twisted world. But despite the excitement, one scene left a lot of viewers shocked—and not in a good way. (Spoilers ahead!)
In this new chapter, Blake Lively plays not just one, but three characters—triplets named Emily, Faith, and Charity. And while this twist alone raised eyebrows, what really set off a wave of discomfort among fans was a scene that involved an unsettling dynamic between the twin sisters. Many felt it crossed a line.
One user on X (formerly Twitter) didn’t hold back, writing: “GUYSSSS I AM HORRIFIED. I decided to watch Another Simple Favor and why is Blake Lively’s characters twin making sexual advances to her HEEELPP.”
Over on Reddit, fans were equally disturbed. While some praised Anna Kendrick’s comedic timing and sharp wit, they called the incestuous moment “gross” and “completely unnecessary.” One user even said it overshadowed the rest of the film: “That scene between the sisters really ruined it for me. It just felt too dark and out of place, even for a dark comedy.”
Another Redditor pointed out that the scene bordered on assault and argued that such themes shouldn’t be played for shock or laughs. “It went too far,” they wrote. “There are some topics that just don’t fit in with a film that otherwise feels kind of frivolous.”
The movie continues the story of Stephanie Smothers (played by Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (played by Lively), who are now reunited on the picturesque island of Capri, Italy. This time, they’re attending Emily’s lavish wedding to a wealthy Italian businessman—but naturally, things spiral into chaos with a mix of murder, mystery, and betrayal.
While some viewers enjoyed the glamorous setting and twisty plot, others were left scratching their heads at the more disturbing elements. “It felt like it was trying too hard to be edgy,” one user commented, “but instead, it made me uncomfortable.”
The film debuted at SXSW earlier this year, and Lively herself hinted at the surprising moments in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Speaking confidently about returning to the role(s), she said: “Okay, no nerves. I know what I’m doing this time.”
Still, for many fans, that one controversial scene was too much—and it may be all they remember about the movie.
