Ben Stiller has reassured fans that they won’t have to wait another three years for Severance Season 3. The Apple TV+ sci-fi thriller took over three years between its first and second seasons, mainly due to delays caused by the Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strikes. However, Stiller confirmed that the long wait won’t be repeated for the next season.

During an appearance on the New Heights podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce, Stiller was asked if fans should expect another long gap between seasons. He quickly responded, “No, no, the plan is not—definitely not. No, the plan is not, and hopefully, we’ll be announcing what the plan is very soon. That will not be that.”

Severance premiered in February 2022, and its highly anticipated second season is set to premiere on January 17, 2025, with the finale scheduled for March 21, 2025. The show, created by Dan Erickson, follows Mark Scout (played by Adam Scott), who works at Lumon Industries, where employees undergo a procedure called “severance” to separate their work and personal memories.

The series has been lauded for its unique storytelling and its impressive cast, which includes Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, Patricia Arquette, and Dichen Lachman. Fans are particularly eager to see how the story progresses after the dramatic events of the first season’s finale.

While promoting the second season, Stiller revealed an intriguing behind-the-scenes tidbit: he had approached former U.S. President Barack Obama for a cameo. Stiller wanted Obama to voice the Lumon building in a Lumon is Listening video featured in the show. However, Obama declined the offer, and Keanu Reeves stepped in to voice the animated building instead.

Although Apple TV+ has not officially confirmed Severance Season 3, Stiller’s comments suggest that plans are already in motion. The long gap between the first and second seasons was due to unforeseen delays, and the production team is working hard to ensure a more timely release schedule moving forward.
