Kaiju No. 8 will be getting a third season (called the “Final Chapter”), and it is currently in production! This was announced on December 20, 2025, at Jump Festa 2026, by Toho Animation and Production I.G. In addition to the final season (the Last Arc), adapting the manga’s Last Wave arc, it will also return to Kafka’s story with the Second Wavy arc.

The first two seasons had covered Kafka’s story up to the very beginning of the kaiju invasion and the escalation of his toinskiing war against Kaiju No. 9. The third and final season will now move to the final battles between the means of defense with Kaiju No. 9, Kafka’s history as a hybrid humanide and dealing with humanity’s fight against the kaiju, and his conflict with Gen Narumi and Mina Ashiro. With this season’s announcement came a teaser trailer and new key art for the website that gives insight into the action that is to be displayed within the third season, and highlights the return of No. 9 as a major enemy.

At this time, there is no official release date for season 3, but there are many fans speculating that it will be released in the middle to late summer or early 2027. Since Production I.G is doing the animation production again (this time with directors Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya), we should expect high-quality kaiju-style battles s and high-quality animation in this season as we did in the first two seasons. A new 13-minute short anime film titled Narumi’s Week at Work, which focuses on Gen Narumi, will also be released as a bonus.

After 129+ chapters and an optimistic but safe and rushed ending for some, Naoya Matsumoto finally wrapped up his manga’s third season in summer 2025, which is expected to be followed closely by the anime adaptation. The voice cast will reportedly remain the same.

As of March 2026, there hasn’t been any sort of announcement as to when the final episode will air, how many episodes will be produced, or what the full trailer will look like, but fans appear excited about what will happen in the next part of Kafka’s fight against Mina, based on some theories regarding power-ups, emotional payoffs, and Kafka achieving his dreams of fighting alongside Mina. More updates about this will likely come out of other anime events.
