Eva Green is now confirmed to play Ophelia in the third season of Wednesday on Netflix. Fans had been guessing for months about who would take on the role of Wednesday Addams’ mysterious aunt. Now it is official. Netflix has shared that Eva will be the face of Aunt Ophelia, a character whose name kept coming up during the second season.
The creators of the show, Al Gough and Miles Millar, said they are thrilled to have her. They explained that Eva has a very powerful and unique screen presence. They said she is elegant, a little haunting and always surprising. They believe these traits make her perfect for the character and they are excited to see how she expands Wednesday’s strange and dark world.
Eva also spoke about joining the show. She said she is very happy to step into the wild and gloomy universe of the Addams family. She described the show as dark, funny and full of charm, and said she is excited to bring her own odd touch to Aunt Ophelia.
For anyone who may not know the character, Ophelia Frump is Morticia Addams’ sister. She has abilities that are similar to Wednesday’s raven-like psychic powers. In the story, Ophelia vanished years ago after a frightening incident at Nevermore Academy. She was found screaming with black tears running down her face. Morticia later revealed that Ophelia was taken to a psychiatric facility after losing control of her powers. She left the facility later, but no one has known where she went for the last twenty years.
Eva’s casting finally gives a face to this mysterious woman. It also adds more excitement for season three, especially after the strong success of season two, which became one of the most watched English-language shows on Netflix.
