EssilorLuxottica had a strong start to 2025, reporting a 7.3% jump in revenue for the first half of the year, compared to the same period in 2024. The company made €14.02 billion in revenue, with €2.53 billion in operating profit, even while dealing with new U.S. import tariffs. Profit margins held steady at 18.3% of sales.
A big part of this growth came from the company’s Direct to Consumer business, which includes in-store and online shopping. Sales in this area rose 10.2%, showing that more people are buying eyewear directly from EssilorLuxottica.
One of the biggest highlights was the huge success of the company’s AI-powered smart glasses. Sales of the popular Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses went up by more than 200% compared to last year. EssilorLuxottica also launched Oakley Meta Performance glasses, with a special 50th anniversary edition of Oakley’s HSTN model set to come out later this summer.
Company leaders said they believe glasses will be the next big step in technology. “We are leading the transformation of glasses as the next computing platform,” said CEO Francesco Milleri and Deputy CEO Paul du Saillant in a shared statement.
Another new product, Nuance Audio smart hearing eyewear, is already available at 10,000 stores across North America and Europe and is receiving strong early feedback.
Regionally, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) saw the strongest growth with a 9.5% increase in revenue. North America also performed well, and both Asia-Pacific and Latin America added to the company’s overall success.
Even with trade challenges, EssilorLuxottica is keeping momentum thanks to strong product demand, tech innovation, and direct sales.
