Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay, a 32-year-old influencer, was tragically found dead along with her family on August 22, 2025, in Guadalajara, Mexico. Their bodies—Esmeralda, her husband Roberto Carlos Gil Licea (36), their 13-year-old son Gael Santiago, and 7-year-old daughter Regina—were discovered wrapped in plastic inside an abandoned pickup truck in the San Andres neighborhood.
Prosecutor Alfonso Gutierrez Santillan revealed that the four were likely executed at a nearby auto repair shop before being transported to where the truck was found. Surveillance footage and forensic evidence, including bloodstains and bullet casings, strongly suggest that the murder took place at the repair shop.
Three men, employees at the mechanic shop, were initially arrested but released due to insufficient evidence. Shockingly, these men were later kidnapped by armed assailants outside the prosecutor’s office—four out of five men were taken, with one managing to escape. Reports indicate that the attackers had been waiting for the group for over two hours before the abduction, though it remains unclear whether this was in retaliation for the family’s murder or linked to another motive.
Local authorities continue to investigate the brutal killings, with forensic analysis ongoing to confirm the sequence of events and the perpetrators’ identities. The case has drawn widespread attention due to the shocking nature of the crime and the involvement of a prominent social media influencer.
