Netflix’s latest miniseries, Adolescence, is making waves, thanks to its gripping storyline and unique filming technique. One of its stars, Erin Doherty, recently shared how thrilled she was to be part of the project—especially since each of the four episodes was shot in a single continuous take.

In the series, Doherty plays Briony, a child psychologist navigating a complex case involving a 13-year-old boy, Jamie (played by Owen Cooper), who is accused of fatally stabbing a schoolmate. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Doherty called the experience “the most terrifying thing ever” but quickly clarified, “Actually, no. I was literally living the dream.”

Doherty first learned about Adolescence while working on A Thousand Blows, when co-star Stephen Graham mentioned that a new project by writer Jack Thorne was in the works. When she heard about the ambitious one-shot filming style, she immediately knew it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. “That is an actor’s dream,” she recalled thinking.

Now, looking back at the experience, Doherty described it as surreal. She reminisced about early conversations with the crew when the pivotal one-shot scenes hadn’t even been written yet. “To genuinely witness the inception of this thing and getting to the point of people watching it, it’s actually surreal,” she said.

With its bold storytelling approach and emotionally charged performances, Adolescence is proving to be one of Netflix’s standout miniseries, pushing creative boundaries while captivating audiences worldwide.
