Ellen DeGeneres recently provided an update on her chicken, affectionately named Sinky, who unfortunately suffered a broken fibula. The talk show host shared the news through a series of updates on her Instagram account, revealing the progress and care taken for her beloved injured chicken.
In a video clip, Ellen conveyed the veterinarian’s diagnosis, confirming that Sinky had indeed broken her fibula and would require about four weeks to recuperate in a specialized facility. With her trademark humor, Ellen quipped, “You got to be ‘fibbin’ me.” However, realizing the seriousness of the situation, she swiftly corrected herself, acknowledging that it wasn’t something to make light of, emphasizing, “So yeah, my chicken has a broken fibula.”
Acknowledging the need for Sinky to recover outside of her typical sink habitat, Ellen admitted that the sink might not be the ideal place for her recuperation, stating, “It’s not the best place for her.”
Before the update about Sinky’s broken fibula, Ellen shared a picture on Thursday ahead of the vet appointment, humorously attributing the name “Sinky” to actor Steve Carell. She playfully mentioned that it might be a silly name but credited Carell for giving it to their chicken.
Ellen also provided updates on Sinky’s condition, showcasing the care packages and arrangements made for her recovery. She showed the food, water, and nesting box set up for the chicken and explained the precautions taken to ensure a safe and comfortable environment, such as covering surfaces with towels to prevent slipping.
Following the surgery on Friday, Ellen mentioned her cat, Monkey, expressing concern and curiosity about Sinky’s well-being. She shared Monkey’s attentiveness towards Sinky, indicating the care and concern among their animal companions. Ellen assured her followers that despite the broken fibula, Sinky was healing and would ultimately be alright, expressing puzzlement at how the injury occurred but remaining optimistic about Sinky’s recovery.
