Ellen DeGeneres is preparing for her final stand-up comedy tour, “Ellen’s Last Stand… Up,” this summer. The 66-year-old comedian will perform in 27 locations across North America, marking her last chance to entertain fans live. This farewell tour is sponsored by Live Nation and promises to bring DeGeneres’ unique humor and storytelling to the stage one last time.
DeGeneres announced her tour dates on Instagram, expressing excitement for her final performances. Presale tickets will be available on May 30 at 10 am local time, with general sales starting on May 31 at the same time. Tickets can be purchased at ellenshop.com/tour.
DeGeneres’ upcoming Netflix special, scheduled to be taped on August 16 and 17 in Minneapolis, will also be her final one. In this special, she plans to address various questions from fans, including controversies related to her show. Previously, a BuzzFeed News article alleged a toxic work environment on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” citing issues like penalization over medical leaves and casual racism. These allegations contributed to her decision to end her long-running talk show after 19 seasons. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, DeGeneres confirmed that the accusations influenced her decision to move on to new endeavors.
DeGeneres’ most recent stand-up performance was at Largo in Los Angeles on April 24, where she discussed personal experiences, including her temporary exile from show business. She expressed joy at returning to the stage and highlighted the importance of her relationship with Portia de Rossi.
Throughout her illustrious career, DeGeneres has received numerous accolades, including 12 Daytime Emmy Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Her last stand-up special, “Relatable,” was released on Netflix in 2018 after a 15-year hiatus from stand-up. Earlier this year, she made a surprise appearance at Beth Stelling’s “Beth & Pals” event.
“Ellen’s Last Stand… Up” is expected to be a memorable farewell, celebrating DeGeneres’ extensive career and bringing joy and laughter to audiences one final time.
