Elisabeth Moss recently addressed the viral story involving a The Handmaid’s Tale crew member who allegedly asked to take home her on-set underwear. The story, which initially raised eyebrows, turned out to be much less unusual than it seemed. Moss clarified that the request wasn’t as inappropriate as it appeared and assured fans that it wasn’t a direct demand for her personal property.
In an interview with People, Moss explained that the crew member in question came to her and explained the situation, revealing that it had been misinterpreted. She said she knew who the crew member was but was waiting for them to publicly identify themselves. Moss also emphasized that the request wasn’t as bad as initially thought, and it wasn’t a specific ask for her underwear.
The incident gained attention after Moss revealed in interviews that, as the final season of The Handmaid’s Tale wrapped up, cast and crew were allowed to take some of the props and costumes home. Moss had expressed interest in keeping some of the custom-made items, such as the underwear her character, Offred, wore throughout the series. However, she learned that someone else had already requested the underwear.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Moss made light of the situation, laughing it off and clarifying that it wasn’t a creepy or inappropriate request. She maintained a positive tone, stressing that the misunderstanding wasn’t harmful and that it had been a lighthearted mix-up.
As the series comes to a close, The Handmaid’s Tale‘s final season premiered on Hulu on April 8, 2025.
