SUGA has always been known as someone who shows care through actions and words rather than physical affection. Fans know he deeply values his close people, but it’s rare to see him initiate skinship with the other BTS members. That doesn’t mean he’s distant—just that he expresses warmth in his own way. One of his most cherished friendships outside BTS is with DJ and record producer EL CAPITXN, also known as Jang Yijeong. During a recent livestream, Yijeong gave fans a funny yet heartfelt glimpse into their bond, even joking about his “unrequited love” for SUGA.
When a fan told him they loved SUGA more than him and asked him to give Yoongi a hug on their behalf, EL CAPITXN laughed and explained how hard it is. He admitted, “Every time I do it, it takes me a lot of courage to hug Yoongi because he doesn’t really like such actions. He’s not fond of being touched by others. So, I’d have to muster up the courage to hug him each time.” He then shared a funny story about once sending a late-night text while drunk, writing, “Yoongi, I love you,” but receiving a less-than-enthusiastic reply. Bursting into laughter, he brushed it off by saying, “That’s how life is, isn’t it?”
The two are the same age and have built a strong friendship over the years. EL CAPITXN even joined SUGA as a DJ on his D-DAY tour, proudly supporting his best friend while also showcasing his own talent. Fans loved seeing their dynamic on stage, with Yijeong openly declaring his fondness for SUGA in ways the rapper may not always return, but still clearly appreciates.
Outside of this friendship, EL CAPITXN has an impressive career of his own. As an in-house producer at HYBE, he has worked on countless tracks for BTS, TXT, ENHYPEN, SEVENTEEN, and many more. He has also produced for well-known artists like SUNMI, Eric Nam, BAEKHYUN, NCT U, and STAYC, among others. More recently, he contributed heavily to the new group AHOF’s music. His collaborations with SUGA stand out in particular—he played a role in songs like Daechwita and Life Goes On, along with tracks on SUGA’s D-2 and D-DAY albums.
While EL CAPITXN jokes about his “one-sided love,” fans see it as a sign of a deep and genuine friendship. It’s the kind of bond where even if SUGA doesn’t always show it through hugs, the mutual respect and care between the two shines through in their work and in their moments together.
