The Philadelphia Eagles are cautiously optimistic about star wide receiver A.J. Brown’s availability for their Week 8 game against the New York Giants. Brown was added to the team’s injury report this week with a hamstring concern and did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday.

Concerns had grown over his ability to play Sunday, but Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Brown is “tracking toward playing” despite missing practice earlier in the week. The Eagles will release their final injury report on Friday, which should clarify his status.

Even if Brown doesn’t take part in Friday’s practice, he has a history of playing games without full practice participation, so his absence in practice isn’t necessarily a red flag.

If he does sit out, the Eagles would rely heavily on DeVonta Smith and tight end Dallas Goedert for passing targets, with Jahan Dotson and John Metchie III seeing increased snaps.

Brown has been performing at a high level lately, recording 10 catches for 201 yards and two touchdowns over the past two games. Having him on the field would be a major boost as Philadelphia looks to maintain momentum against their division rivals.
