Donald Trump is reportedly concerned that some of the conservative justices on the Supreme Court, half of which were appointed by him, might rule against him after he was removed from the ballot in several states citing the 14th Amendment.
As per the reports by The New York Times, the advisers to Trump have been preparing to file challenges as soon as Tuesday to the decisions in Maine and Colorado.
Trump was banned from appearing on the ballot, citing the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021, which is when his supporters attempted to stop the certification of President Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory in their false and baseless belief that the elections were rigged.
While the former president has been charged with wrongdoing in relation to the Capitol riots, his allies have been making point that he hasn’t been criminally charged with “insurrection.”
Trump appointed three of the six conservative justices on the court. The three liberal justices were appointed by Barack Obama and Biden, while the remaining three consecutives were appointed by George HW Bush and George W Bush.
