Sydney Sweeney’s love life has taken center stage lately, but not in the way most fans expected. The Euphoria star recently called off her engagement to longtime partner Jonathan Davino, and the news has sent shockwaves through Hollywood and beyond.
Once the breakup was confirmed, speculation immediately lit up the internet—especially about her on-screen chemistry with Anyone but You co-star Glen Powell. The two had fans swooning over their flirty press tour moments and easy banter, but is there actually something romantic going on behind the scenes?
Well, according to insiders, not quite.
A source close to Sydney spilled the real story to Entertainment Tonight, and it sounds like Sydney’s main focus is her career, not a new relationship. “They’re just in different phases of life,” the insider said, referring to her and Davino. “She’s not looking to settle down right now.”
Instead of diving headfirst into the dating pool, Sydney’s keeping things low-key. She’s not totally closed off to the idea of romance, but with her schedule packed to the brim, it’s just not a priority. “She’s busy with work commitments and that’s her number one focus right now,” the source added.
The confirmation of the split dropped on April 2, 2025, but insiders suggest the writing had been on the wall for a while. Sydney and Jonathan, who began dating in 2018 and got engaged in 2022, had reportedly been facing relationship struggles for quite some time. It wasn’t an overnight decision—it was a slow burn that eventually fizzled out.
As for Glen Powell? He’s not fanning the flames of the dating rumors. The Top Gun: Maverick actor made it clear in a recent interview on Today that he and Sydney are just friends, even joking about the timing of everything: “Timing is everything in this world, isn’t it?”
Sure, fans were sent into a frenzy when Sydney showed up at his sister’s wedding, but both actors insist it was a friendly gesture—nothing more.
Meanwhile, Sydney isn’t slowing down professionally. The White Lotus and Madame Web actress is reportedly in final talks for the lead role in the upcoming Gundam live-action film, and she’s already gearing up for a new biopic based on the life of boxing legend Christy Martin.
So, while the romance rumors swirl, Sydney’s clearly got her eyes on the prize: work, growth, and possibly a knockout performance in the ring (on-screen, of course).
