Conflicting family loyalty

Kelly acknowledges the conflicts that arose from Sharon’s professional relationship with Cowell, who allegedly fired Sharon due to age-related concerns. Sharon has spoken openly about feeling dismissed by Cowell after being let go from The X Factor and turned down an opportunity with The Masked Singer due to her commitment to the show. Kelly, aware of this past friction, admits Simon “did [her] mom dirty a couple times,” though she prefers not to interfere unless absolutely necessary.

Kelly emphasizes, “They had their issues,” and feels her role is to remain neutral to maintain her own healthy relationship with Cowell.

Though Kelly values her friendship with Cowell, she’s clear about her loyalty to her family. Her relationship with her mother, Sharon, has grown stronger over the years, especially since Kelly became a mother herself. Describing her mom as her “No. 1 role model,” Kelly reflects on the challenges her parents faced during her struggles with addiction and how having a son has given her a deeper appreciation for their support.
