The former president’s recent post on Truth Social about Jimmy Kimmel has sparked quite the amusement, with its boomer-style writing and misattributed Oscar winner adding to its comedic appeal. Amidst facing serious legal troubles, he’s chosen to take aim at Kimmel, accusing him of suffering from “TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME” (can’t you just hear it in his voice?). But what exactly is this syndrome, and how does one catch it?
According to Trump, those afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome share a common trait: they enjoy poking fun at him. Given the alleged 125 million who openly criticize him, this could be a cause for concern. Trump’s tirade seems to stem from Kimmel’s jokes on his late-night show about Trump’s ongoing legal battles and courtroom antics, which Trump perceives as signs of TDS.
In Trump’s eyes, reading his posts may exacerbate the syndrome, fueling what he sees as an obsession with him. He even mistakenly equates Kimmel with Al Pacino and confuses “Best Picture” with “Picture of the Year” at the Oscars. It’s a classic blunder, perhaps indicative of someone not fully engaged with reality.
However, Trump’s explanation of Trump Derangement Syndrome remains vague, leaving us in the dark about how to avoid it. Some might even question its existence altogether, speculating that Trump himself might be the one exhibiting symptoms of derangement. But then again, that’s hardly breaking news.
