Ever since James Gunn brought Eagly into Peacemaker, the bald eagle sidekick has stolen the spotlight in ways no one expected. He’s hilarious, oddly wholesome, and somehow manages to represent both the ridiculous and the emotional sides of the show. But with Season 2 raising the stakes and Episode 4 delivering some wild twists, many fans are asking the dreaded question: Does Eagly die?
Does Eagly die in Peacemaker season 2?
The good news is that, as of now, Eagly is safe. None of the episodes released so far show him dying, and nothing in the trailers or promos hints at it either. James Gunn does like to create tension by putting his animal companions in risky situations, just look at Rocket in Guardians of the Galaxy, but he also knows how much audiences get attached to them. Killing Eagly would be a brutal move and could even hurt the show’s emotional pull with viewers unless it had a very strong narrative purpose.
Another thing to keep in mind is that Eagly isn’t a character pulled from DC comics. He was made just for the Peacemaker series. That means there’s no comic book storyline to fall back on for clues about his fate. Everything about Eagly’s future depends on what Gunn decides to write.
The big reason fans are nervous this season is the arrival of Red St. Wild, an eagle hunter with a scary reputation. From what we’ve seen, once Wild picks a target, he almost never fails. With ARGUS backing him, his clash with Peacemaker feels inevitable, and naturally, that raises concerns about Eagly being in the line of fire.
So far though, viewers can breathe easy. Eagly is alive, well, and still offering the perfect mix of comedy and heart. Whether he makes it through the entire season is something we’ll have to wait and see. But for now, your favourite feathered sidekick is safe.
