Doctor Who fans are in for an exciting season ahead as Doctor Who Season 2 (also referred to as Season 15 for long-time fans) officially premieres on Saturday, April 12, 2025. This season will be available on Disney+ in the U.S. starting at 12 a.m. PT/3 a.m. ET and will be airing on BBC and BBC iPlayer in the U.K. It’s a shift from the previous season’s Friday evening release schedule, now settling into early Saturday morning slots.

Season 2 continues the adventures of the Fifteenth Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa, and the season opener, titled The Robot Revolution, is penned by showrunner Russell T Davies. This episode kicks off with a thrilling new storyline that introduces Belinda Chandra, played by Varada Sethu. She’s a nurse who gets swept up in a perilous adventure when robots kidnap her and take her to a strange alien planet—ironically named Miss Belinda Chandra, where she is chosen to become the planet’s ruler.

Despite the Doctor’s efforts to rescue her, a mysterious force traps Belinda in time, preventing them from returning her to Earth. The synopsis teases a gripping new quest for the Doctor as he must face larger threats and unravel a deep mystery to save his new companion. This season will also follow the events of the 2024 Christmas special Joy to the World, where key shifts occurred in the Doctor’s journey, and pick up after Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) decides to stay on Earth.
