Christmas is a time for family, food, and sometimes giving back. Doctor Who actor Dean Hollingsworth did just that by reprising a classic villain to raise money for charity.

Hollingsworth, who played a Karfelon android in the 1985 episode Timelash, joined the Skipton Boxing Day Dip at Cobo Bay in Guernsey on December 26th. He painted himself blue, recreated his android costume, and braved the cold sea to raise funds for the Guernsey Cheshire Care Home. His goal was to raise £1,250.

Over 40 years after his first TV appearance as the blue-faced, yellow-haired android, Hollingsworth spent 12 minutes in the icy water, delighting the crowd and adding humor and spirit to the event. Organisers said the Boxing Day Dip has raised over £12,000 for charity in previous years, and the money helps the care home maintain vital services.

Hollingsworth first played the Karfelon android alongside Colin Baker’s Doctor, enforcing the strict rules of the planet Karfel under the tyrannical Borad. He also appeared as a robot bus conductor in The Greatest Show in the Galaxy with Sylvester McCoy’s Doctor.

His acting credits include roles in Casualty, and he is currently active in the local film and theatre scene. Fans can still donate to the Guernsey Cheshire Care Home to support the cause.
