Travis Kelce might be living his best life with pop superstar Taylor Swift, but it seems like his rising fame and whirlwind romance might be putting a bit of distance between him and some old pals—at least, that’s what sports commentator Nick Wright recently hinted at.
On a new episode of his podcast, What’s Wright? With Nick Wright, the host opened up about how things have changed between him and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end. According to Wright, he and Kelce haven’t really had a good, solid catch-up since Kelce’s relationship with Swift turned serious.
“Trav and I haven’t, like, talked talked since he became serious with Taylor Swift,” Wright said candidly in his April 1 episode. “Since he turned into this A-list mega-celebrity.” And let’s be real—Kelce’s schedule has been jam-packed. Between his NFL commitments and jetting around the world with Taylor on her Eras Tour, there’s hardly been time for a casual hangout.
Wright also mentioned that they had hoped to meet up at last year’s Super Bowl parade, but those plans were cut short due to the tragic shooting that took place at the event. Even though they haven’t hung out in a while, Wright appreciated that Kelce gave him a shoutout on the New Heights podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason. It was a small nod, but it meant a lot.
Since going public in October 2023, Kelce and Swift have been one of pop culture’s favorite power couples. Swift’s been spotted cheering him on at Chiefs games, and Kelce’s returned the favor by showing up at her concerts across the globe. The relationship is clearly serious—and it’s understandably shifted how Kelce splits his time.
Back in June 2024, Kelce even opened up in an interview on Bussin’ With The Boys about what drew him to Swift, saying he admired how grounded and self-aware she is, despite her global fame. “She just keeps it so chill and so cool,” he said, sounding totally smitten.
So, while some of Kelce’s friendships may have taken a backseat lately, it doesn’t seem like they’re lost—just on pause. As he continues juggling his career, love life, and everything in between, fans will be watching to see how he keeps his circle intact through it all.
