Selena Gomez’s fans are back at it, analyzing every lyric from her latest album, I Said I Love You First. Released on March 21, the collab project with fiancé Benny Blanco has already sparked major discussion—especially the track Younger and Hotter Than Me, which fans believe echoes Taylor Swift’s iconic breakup anthem All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version).
Gomez sings:
“We’re not gettin’ any younger/But your girlfriends seem to.
Is she younger and hotter than me?/Is it all in my head?/Should have moved on instead.”
Sound familiar? Swift’s All Too Well (10-minute version) includes the famous line:
“I’ll get older, but your lovers stay my age.”
With the lyrical similarities, fans are wondering if it’s just a coincidence or if Gomez intentionally nodded to her bestie’s song. One X user even said Gomez’s line “fits her voice perfectly,” while another mashed up All Too Well’s music video with Younger and Hotter Than Me.
Swift herself seemed to approve of the album, breaking her social media hiatus to hype up Gomez and Blanco’s work on her Instagram Story. “I LOVE THIS ALBUM,” she wrote in all caps, tagging the duo. Gomez quickly reposted it with a heartfelt “Love you, Tay.”
The longtime besties have always supported each other, with Swift previously celebrating Gomez’s 2023 track Single Soon. Looks like the Only Murders in the Building star might have just given Swifties a new anthem to dissect!
