Love might just be back on the horizon for Dana Matheson in Home and Away, even though her ex-boyfriend Xander Delaney has just left Summer Bay. Despite some serious reasons to keep their distance, Dana and Sonny Baldwin are about to throw caution to the wind and dive headfirst into a new romance, and it’s going to get steamy.

In episodes currently airing in Australia (and coming to UK screens this July), Dana and Sonny can’t seem to fight the sparks flying between them, even though they’ve tried to keep things platonic.

To backtrack a little, Dana ended things with Sonny not long ago. Why? Well, the infamous River Boys had been causing trouble, and her sister Harper got understandably worried about Dana’s safety. So, Dana took a step back, thinking it was the smart thing to do.

But in upcoming scenes, the whole “stay away” plan pretty much goes out the window.

While Dana and Harper are out celebrating at the Diner, Sonny happens to walk by, and Dana completely zones out from her chat with her sister. It’s obvious she still has feelings for him. She ends up following him outside to the balcony, and they have one of those classic awkward-but-emotional heart-to-hearts. They agree to just be friends… but their chemistry is screaming otherwise.

Cut to later that night, Sonny’s at home thinking about that conversation when he hears a knock at the door. It’s Dana. She doesn’t waste a second, she rushes in and kisses him, and the two end up spending the night together. Yep, it’s officially on again. But what does this mean for them moving forward? Will this be just a one-time thing or the start of something real?

Speaking about his character, Sonny, actor Ryan Bown told TV WEEK that Sonny’s always been a bit of a free spirit, not exactly known for commitment. “He’s had a rough past and is still working through it,” Ryan said. “But meeting Dana seems to have shaken something loose. There’s a real spark there.”

He also shared that working with Ally Harris, who plays Dana, is a blast: “She’s clever, quick, and always keeps you sharp. The chemistry isn’t just onscreen — we have great fun filming too.”

If you’re ready to watch the drama unfold, Home and Away airs in the UK on Channel 5 every weekday at 1:45pm, with repeat and first-look screenings in the evening on 5STAR. You can also catch classic episodes on Prime Video.

In Australia, the show runs Monday to Thursday at 7pm on Channel 7 and is also available to stream on 7Plus. Get ready, because this romance is about to shake up Summer Bay!
