Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness, once admired for their enduring marriage, have now finalized a significant step in their separation journey. Two years after publicly announcing their split, Deborra-Lee Furness officially filed for divorce, marking the end of a nearly three-decade-long marriage. Ahead of the legal proceedings, the former couple made a major financial move by quietly dividing their $23 million New York City penthouse. According to People magazine, Furness paid Jackman $11.7 million to buy out his share of the property, signaling a low-key but substantial step toward finalizing their uncoupling.
The property in question is just one piece of the lavish real estate puzzle the duo accumulated over the years. Their NYC penthouse, located in a highly sought-after area, is one of several luxury homes they co-owned. They previously purchased an expansive condo in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, a 5,000-square-foot space featuring two stories and a massive 3,700-square-foot terrace that overlooks the Hudson River, offering panoramic views of the city. In Australia, the couple shared a stunning waterfront condo overlooking the iconic Bondi Beach, a testament to their deep ties to their homeland. Other jointly owned properties include homes in New York’s West Village and an idyllic beach house in the Hamptons.
Following the divorce filing, Furness publicly addressed the emotional toll of their decision. In her first statement, she expressed compassion for others who have experienced the pain of betrayal and life-altering transitions. Reflecting on their marriage, she described it as a “wonderful, loving” journey and emphasized that their separation is a conscious step toward personal evolution. “Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” she shared, underlining that the parting is not rooted in animosity but rather in a mutual understanding of change.
Married in 1996, Jackman and Furness’s partnership was long considered a pillar of stability in Hollywood. With two children together and decades of shared memories, their split marks the end of an era, one that both are now leaving behind with respect and grace as they move forward separately.
